Is Money Evil or Not?

This is a very feeble question that often pops up in conversations, especially among the younger generation. It’s a misleading question that, if left unchecked, could cause confusion and chaos in our understanding of life.

Such questions should be removed from our realm of understanding, as they create unnecessary friction in our pursuit of clarity.

Looking back at our ancient world, we were primarily focused on fulfilling our daily needs—internal, intrinsic elements of our existence. As we evolved, we created a more organized way of life, introducing the division of labor. With the growing complexity of society, we developed the monetary system to facilitate these activities. But let’s remember, this system was introduced to support our intrinsic needs. We, as humans, are here to engage daily on an intellectual, emotional, physical, and social level. To activate these aspects, we conceived a new economic system with a proper monetary framework designed to reduce friction in our lives.

This system exists to serve us, enabling us to live fully. However, a small group of people found loopholes in the system and hijacked it. Instead of exercising their five intrinsic aspects to feel fully alive—where all our neurotransmitters are released, leading to peace and fulfillment—they became obsessed with the accumulation of wealth. These are the people who have hijacked the system and perpetuate the feeble question of whether money is evil or not.

When we are active in these four aspects of life, money becomes a byproduct, not the goal. It is merely a means to facilitate our lives. But when some groups, driven by the purpose of accumulation, engage in activities that do not contribute to the social fabric we are all part of—such as merely trading money to multiply it—others begin to notice and are drawn to similar activities. This leads to the rise of questions like whether money is evil.

If we do not fully engage in these four aspects of our lives, no matter what we accumulate, we will feel as though we are living in hell, devoid of peace and happiness. Therefore, exercise these aspects in their full form, and the monetary flow will follow naturally. Then, you won’t feel the need to hijack or hoard it.
