The Direction Economy
The next divide between nations will not be who adopts AI, but who can direct it. Direction density, the share of a population that can direct AI to build rather than merely consume what it produces, is the number that decides who captures the value of the AI economy.
AI lets labour command capital-scale output without owning capital. A nation's future is the count of how many of its people can direct AI to build, and whether it owns the compute they run on.
